About the tour
What to expect from this tour
Embark on an unforgettable journey through Iceland’s stunning landscapes with our guided 5-6 hour horseback ride. The adventure begins at Stóri-Kambur as we ride along majestic mountains, following a little path through green fields, where we can spot sheep grazing and get a feeling for our horses. We make our way up to the tallest hill around, overlooking the entire valley with its beaches and lava fields, before we are heading down to the picturesque area of Búðir, where we’ll take a brief stop to rest our horses before continuing on our trip.
Next, we’ll ride on the world-renowned Löngufjörur beach, where you’ll have the opportunity to ride your horse along the shoreline and soak in the beauty of the vast Atlantic Ocean. The combination of the sandy beach, endless ocean, and scenic mountains creates a mesmerizing atmosphere that will make your ride unforgettable. The sand on Löngufjörur beach is very unique, with its high clay content making it arguably the best terrain for riding and ideal for tölting. This beach is the longest in Iceland and is one of the world’s most sought-after riding beaches.
After some time on the beach, we’ll return to Búðir, where we get the chance to briefly stop at the famous black church, and then continue our adventure through the rugged terrain of Búðarhraun lava field, following the stone-marked path that has been traveled by Icelanders for over 1200 years.
We’ll conclude our trip by riding back to Stóri-Kambur through another great riding beach called Hraunlandarif.

Riding Experience

Minimum participants
No minimum number of riders is required but we recommend booking tours in advance to ensure that everyone has a horse to suit their skill level.
What to bring
It is best to wear comfortable and warm clothing that isn´t slippery and doesn’t make a rustling sound.

We provide helmets, appropriate clothing (for rain and wind), and boots.
Cancellation on tours
We reserve the right to cancel tours with short notice if weather conditions are not favorable for horses and riders.
