8-day-tour

The tour is 8 days long in total, 6 1⁄2 of which are spent riding. The price includes pick-up and drop-off from/to BSÍ (at 2 p.m. latest on the day of arrival and departure), all meals and non-alcoholic drinks, accommodation with towels and bed linens etc. and riding.

The minimum age is 16 (unless discussed otherwise) and the maximum weight 100kg. All participants
must be in a good physical shape and comfortable to galopp in open terrain. Previous experience
with Icelandic horses is not required.

The Riding

We ride in groups along the beautiful coastline of Southern Snæfellsnes.

Trailing from our farm Gröf through a magical, ever-changing landscape, from rough lava, over sparkling streams and rivers, to white sandy beaches until we reach Löngufjörur.

Löngufjörur are a series of aw-inspiring beaches that collectively stretch almost 60 kilometers and nearly the entire length of the Snæfellsnes peninsula. These coasts form some of the worlds greatest riding terrain as their sand, which is high in clay content, is arguably the perfect ground for riding on. There we can ride for hours on the famous smooth gait Tölt and our horses can really show their worth running free without any obstacles to slow them down.

The Food

There is no doubt that on a trip like this, food is one of the most important aspects. The food is mostly locally sourced from small family farms and local fishermen.
We eat lamb raised in the wild on the peninsula, fish caught fresh by immediate neighbours and the host family, dairy and beef from a nearby dairy farm, lots of locally grown vegetables and much more. No individual meals are offered, 
we all eat together and everyone gets the same food that is on the menu that day. However, a vegetarian option is offered for those who have notified the hosts in advance.
