Winter Retreat
Escape everyday life for a while and immerse yourself in the Icelandic winter wonderland, far away from the crowds.
Join us in our daily farm life, care for your “own” horse, visit a local sheep farm, try your hand at traditional knitting, or simply slow down and enjoy our cozy accommodation with sauna and hot tub while waiting for the Northern Lights.
Whether you are a horse person or not, this retreat is for everyone who wants to experience authentic Icelandic countryside life during winter.
What to expect from this tour
You will spend five nights in our cozy lodge, complete with a sauna and hot tub, right here on our farm. Just next to the lodge is our stable, where you can take care of your own designated horse throughout your stay, if you wish. Feed, groom, and get to know your new extra-fluffy friend.
Once a day, we also feed our main herd of almost 140 horses, and you are very welcome to join us. Weather permitting, we will also have the chance to ride our horses down to the nearby beach twice during your stay.
What to expect from this tour
But there is more to Icelandic farm life than horses. We will visit a nearby sheep farm, where you can learn about the special Icelandic sheep breed and discover where our famous Icelandic wool comes from. Afterwards, you can try your hand at traditional Icelandic knitting during two cozy afternoon lessons and perhaps knit your first scarf, beanie, or pair of gloves.
What to expect from this tour
All activities are completely optional. If you would rather stay at the lodge, curl up under a warm blanket, and simply enjoy the beautiful Icelandic landscape, that is perfectly fine too.
The Accomodation
In the Holy Ram we have both rooms with double & twin beds, which all come with their very own bathrooms. Each room has great views and a skylight over the bed.
There you’ll also find a cozy communal hall with a bar and a comfortable sitting area. After a long and exciting day in the saddle it’s good to come ‘home’ and relax with a book or watch a movie, grab a pint and sit on the sofa with your fellow riders. All while you smell the delicious food being cooked for you in the kitchen.
The Accomodation
Just outside you’ll find a great outdoor space with a hot-tub & a sauna with incredible views of the ocean, mountains and the glacier. You can soak in the hot tub under the midnight sun or a starlit sky, all the while the ocean can be heard battling with the coast in the distance. With luck you might even witness some northern lights while you rest in the warm water.
